Raw Carob Icy Melts

Raw Carob Icy Melts sounded absolutely amazing in theory—creamy, cool, chocolate-like bites without the caffeine or heaviness of cacao. I had the vision, I had the ingredients, and I had the excitement… but somewhere between the bowl and the freezer, things took a hilarious turn. The flavor was there, the concept was there, but the execution? Well, let’s just say it landed squarely in the “Flopper” category.

In keeping with our mission to share not just the triumphs but also the experiments that don’t go as planned, we’re adding this one to our monthly Floopers collection. Why? So you can laugh with us, learn from us, and avoid making the same chilly mistake in your own kitchen.

And who knows—you might even be able to spot exactly where things went wrong before you reach the grand reveal at the bottom of the page! Sometimes the best lessons—and the best laughs—come from the recipes that never quite make it to the spotlight.

Equipment Needed: Cupcake papers, Measuring Utensils, Food Processor

Ingredients:

1 Cup Coconut Oil

1/2 Cup Carob Powder, sifted

1/4 Cup Maple Syrup

Optional:

Peppermint drops

Peanut Butter, dollop in each Cup

Coconut Flakes

Almond, whole in each Cup

Answer: I did not sift the Carob Powder first, so I had lumps of Carob floating in there, which would not have been that bad except when I pulled it out of the freezer, the Coconut Oil coagulated together leaving a unattractive dessert. The good news: it actually tasted pretty good! I do not know when I am going to try it again, though.
